Waynes Pest Control Professional Earns BCE Designation

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Waynes Pest Control, an Anticimex company providing pest control and lawn care services to residential and commercial clients in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, announces the designation of board-certified entomologist – urban/industrial entomology (BCE) to Trey Strickland in September 2022.

The BCE program is a benchmark of professionalism in the pest management industry. BCE earners for urban/industrial entomology must pass two rigorous exams, the core exam and the urban/industrial entomology specialty exam pertaining to structural pest management. An earner must also have at least a bachelor’s degree in entomology or a closely related field and must combine this degree with at least three years of post-graduate work experience, a master’s degree and two years of post-graduate work, or a Ph.D. and one year of post-graduate work.

Strickland is a third-generation pest management professional, and Waynes’ second BCE. The other BCE is his father, Fred Strickland, Jr. In the state of Alabama, there are only four board certified entomologist – urban/industrial entomology. Going through the process and becoming a BCE has been a goal of Stricklands’ for a long time.

“While it may be a great professional step for me, I hope it is a great step for Waynes and our team,” Strickland said. “Having the opportunity to become a BCE has been rewarding and a real blessing. I am very thankful for my personal family, Waynes family, and several in the BCE community that supported me.”

Strickland is an outstanding Waynes teammate and has served in many roles in his five years with Waynes. He was also recently promoted to Vice President of Service and Acquisition Management.

“Trey reaching this milestone in his career will not only benefit him personally and professionally, but it will also benefit Waynes and our entire customer base,” said Shawn Hollis, president, Waynes. “Having experts like Trey on our team ensures we can continue to deliver on our promise of ‘World Class Service…Every Time.’

Although Strickland is back on the operational side of business, he plans to continue to be a technical services resource for Waynes and Anticimex team members in continuing to serve customers by being a global leader in modern pest control.
